What would our world be without textiles? As a tapestry weaver I think in yarns and images, but this video shows much more. Ikea gives us their view...
My art has always been driven by my love of the natural world. I like to portray the little things in a big way. I tend to scale my views of nature either full scale or oversized, so that details of color and structure become visible in new ways, conveying the essence of each object and scene as I experience them. I believe that every person has a special relationship to nature, yet in capturing the abstract elements of a plant or animal, it is my hope that people feel a desire to take the time to look more closely at the nature that surrounds them and perhaps gain a new appreciation for each small thing.
My art-to-wear is as much about the process. My designs are usually a mix of recycled fabrics and unique new fabrics , and embellished with ribbon, appliques, or hand stitching. My goal is to design and sew a unique, and eye catching, piece of wearable art that you love to wear.
